Summary of Position
The Vice President, Research & Development at Labminds will be responsible for executing on the Company’s overall technology vision, shaping its technical strategy, leading all engineering efforts and driving its development execution that will firmly place Labminds as the leader in providing cutting-edge automated buffer preparation solutions to the market. This person will recruit world-class talent, manage the appropriate development methodologies, and create the proper organizational structure to drive a high performing development team to deliver these solutions to the market with relentless execution. This person will keep abreast of and influence technology trends, standards, and stakeholders which will further enhance adoption and market share of Labmind’s solutions, and work in tandem with the other members of the executive team as well as the marketing team to further define our product roadmap and deliver against it. Primary Responsibilities
The Vice President, Research & Development will lead all product development engineering efforts for the company. He/she will have responsibility for directing the mechanical design, electrical, hardware, software, and firmware development and deployment efforts to ensure effective development of new products and improvements to existing products. The VP of R&D will also be responsible for leading a team of engineers who will develop high quality innovative products while meeting project timelines. A key focus of the role is to provide strong technical and engineering leadership coupled with equally effective project management skills.
• Develop, direct and maintain a system to manage all product development programs and projects, including a rigorous review process, in order to ensure attainment of key milestones and adherence to product specifications, timelines and budgets.
• Lead the engineering teams to promote a high-performance, results-driven environment with a strict adherence to project management requirements.
• Support Marketing in developing a strong product pipeline and a portfolio of marketed products that are differentiated and provide competitive advantage for the company.
• Formulate and implement the long-term strategy with respect to new and emerging technologies that advance company objectives.
• Attract, develop and retain top talent for the R&D function, while motivating staff to continually improve its performance.
• Drive all R&D aspects of Intellectual Property (IP) to ensure Freedom to Operate, working with lawyers, designers/architects/scientists, as required, to write/submit patentable inventions.
• Manage university and other external research collaborations
• Work with Quality to ensure products are developed and validated in a manner that complies with global regulatory requirements
• Directly responsible for the establishing and managing the R&D/Engineering budget
• Ensure that the research and development organization provides technical assistance to other departments.
Position Requirements
The VP of R&D will possess strong technical knowledge and vision and have a demonstrated history of leading engineering teams in the development of new lab automation systems, bringing these products to market on time and within budget.
• Bachelors in Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent required.
• PhD in related field strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in progressive engineering and product development leadership roles within global companies that develop, manufacture and sell complex automation robots to the lab.
• Integrated software and hardware system engineering and project management skills are required.
• Experience in setting and scaling the research and development function, with the proven ability to attract, inspire, motivate and retain top tier talent.
• Proven ability to establish, articulate and implement a concrete product development strategy that clearly aligns with corporate and commercial goals.
• Executive team experience preferred

The Head of Hardware Engineering is responsible for ensuring effective development of new products and improvements to existing products related to our automation system’s electro-mechanical hardware and firmware systems while coordinating with software development team.
They are accountable for ensuring engineering best practices and quality systems are followed from product conception to implementation in the field and production. The candidate must be capable of performing engineering tasks, including electrical or mechanical design, document creation/control, developing test requirements and test procedures, and managing the ECO process.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with Product Management, Applications Engineering, and other departments to strategize and implement new product features
- Reviews and approves design concepts, design modifications, testing, verification strategies, and SOPs to ensure we meet product, cost, and timeline expectations
- Manage project schedule, product features and performance, cost, and resources effectively
- Anticipate and communicate project risks and mitigations. Effectively communicate status with stakeholders regarding deliverables, timelines, and budget
- Work with executives and engineering leadership to report information and drive key cross-cutting engineering decisions
- Effectively manage the use of our PLM system through proper ECO procedures
- Support Applications and Field Service on customer issues as needed
- Introduce new tools and methods to improve development efficiency and efficacy
- Execute processes and procedures across the department to ensure consistency within the organization

Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 2-4 years’ experience managing teams and 8-10 years’ total experience on a hardware team
- Experience interfacing with contract manufacturers and contract engineering providers
- Extensive experience with Solidworks or Altium depending on your discipline
- Experience launching products with CE/TUV certifications
- Record of launching new products and features for complex autonomous systems
- Prefer candidates with experience developing highly complex hardware systems for the pharmaceutical industry

Summary of Position
The Director of Quality is responsible for managing our Quality Management System (QMS), leading internal and external audits, supporting manufacturing and testing, driving Continuous Improvement initiatives across all product and service offerings, and mentoring Labminds staff in the pursuit of quality excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
This role is responsible for ensuring that our products comply with customer, market, and regulatory standards and that our processes align with our QMS. This will be done by managing quality operations and working hand in hand with our manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, human resources, finance, facilities, logistics, sales, marketing and customer service departments.
- Establish and maintain company quality metrics.
- Maintains product quality by enforcing QA / QC policies and procedures.
- Manages ISO/GAMP 5 certification processes including coordination and scheduling of 3rd party audits.
- Development, document, and implement the company QMS.
- Lead the management review process and conduct meetings as appropriate for the established QMS.
- Conduct necessary QMS training to applicable groups, departments, and personnel.
- Generate non-conformance’s (internal, customer, and vendor) and lead the corrective and preventive action process.
- Act as a customer liaison with any quality related issue, customer complaint, or feedback and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Interfaces regularly with Product Development, Marketing, and Sales to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to company quality standards.

- Develop and maintain process for managing vendor quality and performance.
- Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) and ensure that nonconforming product is positively identified, isolated, and segregated to prevent further operations and/or shipment to the customer.
- Manage problems of diverse scope using a high degree of judgment and risk-based decision making.
- Maintain the calibration program with accurate inventories of measuring devices and established calibration frequencies using the Unipoint Database.
- Health/safety officer for our offices and lab(s).
Position Requirements
The Director of Quality will be an experienced quality leader who can independently manage the company’s quality system and all related quality initiatives.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- At least 8-10 years of experience in quality management roles with leadership responsibility
- Previously responsible for launching and managing quality management systems
- Strong knowledge of quality system requirements with thorough knowledge of ISO9001
- Experience working in small growing companies
- Experience with GAMP 5
- Experience with CE, TUV, and GMP within the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience with MS Word, Excel, Project Management and Analytics software
- Six Sigma Certified a plus
